Minute Media has announced the appointment of Lindsay McCombie to Head of Women’s Football at 90min. As part of the new role, McCombie will oversee all women’s football content across 90min, taking on the creative production and strategy element of the women’s game as well.
90min has long been a champion of the women’s game, bringing the same passion and expertise to covering the women’s leagues and clubs as they do the mens. With this new appointment, 90min furthers their commitment to elevating women’s football and sets the stage for new series, new partnerships and a new era of women’s coverage.
“There is no one better suited than Lindsay to lead 90min’s coverage of the women’s game,” said Brian Goldfarb, General Manager of 90min. “While 90min has long supported women’s football and the coverage of the sport, we are confident that with a creative and dynamic leader like Lindsay, we will continue taking our platform to new heights.”
Prior to joining 90min, McCombie served as a Digital Producer at Sky Sports where she was part of the team that produced the first-ever all female ‘Fanzone’ commentary for a Super Sunday. She also spearheaded planning and production for their rolling coverage of the London Olympics and Paralympics and was part of the all-female production team that launched ‘Sportswomen’ - a weekly live show on Sky Sports dedicated to women’s sport.
In 2020, McCombie co-created and produced a series called ‘I’m Game’ which was runner up in the Best TV show category at the Sports Journalism Awards. The five-part series highlighted the barriers that can prevent the LGBTQ+ community from accessing and enjoying sport. She also pitched and launched the ‘Women’s Football Show’, which was a completely remote live production, and included guests such as Jill Scott, Eni Aluko and Sam Mewis. The following year, when Sky Sports acquired the broadcasting rights for the Women's Super League, McCombie was a key figure on the live production team, producing a weekly show called ‘Inside the WSL’.
Since joining 90min as Creative Director, McCombie has overseen the creation of the Fan Van for Euro 2022 and Women's Football Weekend, worked on the ‘Behind the Baller’ series with EA Sports, launched ‘Life's A Pitch’ hosted by Republic of Ireland internationals Ruesha Littlejohn and Lucy Quinn and a women's football discussion show titled ‘90min Talks’, which recently celebrated its two-year anniversary.
As women’s football continues to dominate the sports landscape, Minute Media is thrilled to have McCombie at the helm, providing fans with creative ways to watch, read and engage with the sport and its respective athlete base.
