With a legacy spanning six decades, this edition pays homage to the unparalleled beauty, innovation and cultural impact that have defined the iconic franchise since its inception in 1964. The annual issue has captivated audiences worldwide with its groundbreaking imagery, featuring the world's most renowned supermodels, athletes and celebrities adorned in the most exquisite swimwear designs against breathtaking backdrops. The publication has set the standard for diversity and empowerment, celebrating beauty in all its forms and championing inclusivity and body positivity.

In addition to its unparalleled visual storytelling, the 60th anniversary print issue alongside its robust digital footprint on swimsuit.si.com will feature exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes insights and compelling narratives that offer a glimpse into the rich history and cultural significance of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. The issue pays tribute to the visionaries who have shaped the iconic franchise and paved the way for future generations.

“Over the past 60 years we have shattered stereotypes, embraced diversity, and championed inclusivity,” said MJ Day, Editor in Chief of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. “With each passing year, we have challenged ourselves to push boundaries and redefine what it means to be Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. While this year’s issue is a tribute to the recent past, it’s also a reminder of the work we must continue to do. We must remind women to challenge the status quo, to celebrate strength and confidence, and to inspire those around us to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their passions fearlessly.”

“SI Swimsuit has transcended its origins. It began as a mere diversion in the winter months when the sports calendar was relatively empty. Now it’s a global symbol of empowerment, diversity and positivity. We’ve done our best to honor women of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds. We’ve strived to reshape societal norms and redefine the standards of beauty. This year’s issue does just that.”

“In the past, we’d have one cover model representing the supposed epitome of beauty at the time. But today there are seven covers featuring 27 women, all of whom have helped shape a world in which they feel more represented and more empowered than ever before. There’s Kate Upton, whose first cover served as a catalyst for the evolution of the brand. There’s Chrissy Teigen, who represents the new generation of model moguls. There’s Hunter McGrady, whose power and advocacy continue to inspire. And there’s Gayle King, a first-timer who, like her co-cover models, not so gently reminds us that women are limitless and control their destinies. For the three remaining covers, we assembled some of our most influential alumni together for one legendary photo shoot representing where we are right now- and a hope for the future.”

This year’s SI Swimsuit roster, in addition to the 27 cover models, also includes Chanel Iman, Christen Harper, Ellie Thumann, Kamie Crawford, Katie Austin, Lauren Chan, Lorena Durán, Nicole Williams English, Olivia Dunne, Sixtine and Yumi Nu; rookies Achieng Agutu, Berkleigh Wright, Brittany Mahomes, Brittney Nicole, Jena Sims, Lori Harvey, Nina Cash, Penny Lane, Sharina Gutierrez and Xandra Pohl; and Big 12 athletes Alexa Massari, Jasmine Williams and Jillian Hayes.

This year’s issue was shot in Mexico, Belize, Portugal and Hollywood, Fla. Accommodations were provided by Kempinski Hotel Cancún in Mexico, Itz’ana Resort and Residences and Grand Caribe Belize in Belize, Renaissance Porto Lapa Hotel and Vila Galé Douro Vineyards in Portugal and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

To celebrate the launch of the issue, SI Swimsuit, in partnership with Hard Rock, will be hosting a series of events from May 16 through May 19. The festivities will kick off in New York City at the Hard Rock Hotel New York and then at The Guitar Hotel at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Fla. The Hard Rock Hotel pool will be transformed into Swimsuit Island, where guests can enjoy interactive photo moments, meet and greets with SI Swimsuit models, beauty and wellness activations, freebies and more. Sponsors for the event in addition to Hard Rock include Gold Bond (the official Body Skin Sponsor of the 60th Anniversary Issue), Tarte Cosmetics, Electric Picks, Belize Tourism Board, Mexican Caribbean/Quintana Roo Tourism Board, Nine West, Sports Illustrated Swimwear Line and Paradocs. This marks the fourth year SI Swimsuit and Hard Rock have joined forces to host the annual issue’s launch event. For more information on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Island, visit swimsuit.si.com.
